Calcaps
Kemtrak Calcaps eliminate cross contamination between products and batches, offering the utmost in safety, convenience and flexibility in biopharmaceutical processing.
These liquid-free calibration caps are used to normalize our TC007 (TC007 Turbidimeter – Kemtrak). Designed to eliminate the need for hazardous chemicals like liquid formazine, our calibration caps make the normalization process safer, easier, and consistent across different locations.
Why normalize turbidimeters?
Normalization ensures that turbidimeters give the same values no matter where they’re used. Traditionally, this was done using liquid formazine solutions. However, because formazine is hazardous to handle, Kemtrak has created a safer, easier-to-use solution with calibration caps. These caps are designed to provide accurate readings by mimicking formazine concentrations and can be reused across multiple turbidimeters.
Understanding turbidity and the Kemtrak TC007
Turbidity is measured by the amount of scattered light caused by suspended solids in a sample. The Kemtrak TC007 turbidimeter is highly versatile, capable of measuring samples ranging from ultrapure water to samples with high solid content, such as creams and other dense substances. Depending on your sample type and turbidity range, the TC007 offers three modes:
– Ratiometric Mode – Measures scattered light at 90°.
– Attenuated Mode – Measures light that passes through the sample.
– Backscatter Mode – Measures reflected light at 180°.
This new liquid-free normalization process for the Kemtrak TC007 makes it easier than ever to ensure consistent, accurate turbidity readings globally. With calibration caps, you get a quick, straightforward, and safe method for maintaining accuracy without handling hazardous chemicals.
